So I’ve been a little miffed the past few days if you can tell from my last post or the lack of other posts. Mid last week my knee started to get a little sore which I deduced back to some of the low rpm climbing I was doing trying to keep my HR down. Nothing new, same thing happened two years ago in North Carolina, and this time I was smart about it and backed off for a couple days and im back riding now. The crazy thing is its usually my left knee that gives me trouble, so I was utterly confused and shocked when I woke up with a sore right knee. So for a few days I was just doing super easy 15 –20 min spins with some stretching and rolling followed by some icing. Not to mention a healthy dose of Vitamin I.
I guess what grumped me out the most was I had just finished an easy week, and basically had to take another week easier. Not that I didn’t get a lot done. I totally reorganized the garage, and started laying out plans for a bike rack in the basement. Also did a lot of spring cleaning.
The past couple days I’ve eased into some high rpm roller rides. I also lowered my wattage a little bit. I feel like my knee is about 90% right now so I should be back to full time in a couple days. After that I’ll just have to stay on top of the roller and stretching. I also put a 32 tooth cassette onto my cross bike im training on outside currently. So ill be able to keep the rpm up on the climbs. With the weather closing in for the next 14 days I don’t think it will really matter as ill be on the rollers. But I was planning on adding some muscle tension in late February anyway so I should be ready to get back to the real world in March.
I don’t want to speak to soon but if the rest of the winter is like the last two weeks the mtb season could be a couple weeks earlier this year. I don’t think I’ve used my snowblower once in the last two weeks. The last two years I was using almost everyday in February.
With a bunch of time on my hands I came up with some mathematical formulas.
In regards to specific winter sport conditions
A= Good Road Riding conditions
B= Good XC ski conditions
C= good snowshoe conditions
A does not equal C
B Also does not equal C
That being said after a vet appointment (I have fleas) tomorrow I’m going to try to get up to Horseshoe for a ski in some fresh snow. Hoping it will be a little easier on the knee as opposed to the hard fast conditions the past couple days. Also hoping the roads will allow it.
My goal is to catch up to Fry’s 1000km…….I have to double check but I think I have some work to do.
I also heard my Road bike and MTB are getting closer to delivery. It’s always nice being on something new and different.
